Grassland and Dry Forest Stewardship

Project Abstract:
Grasslands and associated dry forests, while occupying a relatively small land area in BC, have extremely high biodiversity values, and are home to a disproportionately large suite of species at risk. The wetlands associated with these two ecotypes have similar values. Urban development, agriculture and transportation infrastructure have caused major loss, fragmentation and degradation of these ecotypes. A series of activities are planned to a) raise awareness, b) plan and test enhanced management/restoration strategies, and c) encourage as well as report on grassland and dry forest monitoring and research activity.
