Improving opportunities for knowledge management and exchange with Aboriginal
organizations in British Columbia
Project Abstract: A cornerstone to sustainable development of natural resources is the recognition, understanding, use, and equitable sharing of benefits derived from the use, of Indigenous peoples' knowledge, often referred to as traditional ecological knowledge. Provincial, local, and international studies (Michel and Gayton 2002)indicate the need to help identify, manage, and develop knowledge exchange systems to help facilitate greater understanding of the role of traditional ecological knowledge and western science in community, economic, and social planning. Activities in the project will contribute to the development in the longer term of collaborative knowledge exchange strategies and systems, including, but not limited to the program website and online services.
