Science-based Policies and Practices to Mitigate the Impacts of Mountain Pine Beetle

Project Abstract:
Several activities under this project are designed to increase the knowledge of natural resource managers with respect to scientific, experiential, and indigenous information relating to the management of forests impacted by the mountain pine beetle. These projects include a workshop on access management issues as well as a couple of information sessions for communicating results from various MPB research projects. Another critical step in the extension process is the evaluation of materials produced. We plan to conduct a survey of natural resource managers in the province to determine if they are aware of and have used the tools, such as the MPB information portal, produced in 2006-07 and, if they have used them, to gather information on how they could be improved.
