Maintaining Access to Forest Resources Dynamics Information on the World Wide Web
Project Abstract: Innovations and current knowledge in forest resources dynamics are often difficult to access and fragmented across many organizations. This project is focused on working with partners to maintain and enhance access to the latest forest resource dynamics innovations through the World Wide Web products and services so that forest managers, decision-makers, researchers and practitioners (e.g. forest managers, field contractors, and forest management/science researchers) will have increased knowledge and awareness of current forest resources dynamics issues (including mountain pine beetle), research and extension products and activities. To enhance this access to information, activities undertaken by the extension team will include regular updates to the various program pages included in the Forest Resources Dynamics Extension Program Cluster website (i.e., web links, program, and new publications). To support clients' identified need to “stay in touch” with all the new information or events related to forest resources dynamics that occur on an annual basis, including those produced by the Provincial Forest Extension Provider, the extension team has developed and maintained a Forest Resources Dynamics list (ForestDynamicsExt) that keeps the clients informed in an effective and efficient manner (PFEP Client Needs Survey 2006). This list provides monthly Forest Resources Dynamics listserv postings (12 posts per year) and subscriber list maintenance.
