Maintaining Access to Science-based Information
Project Abstract: Decision makers in the natural resource management community in British Columbia need quick and easy access to the best available science-based information. Recent results for the FSP Provincial Forest Extension Program client survey suggest the internet is the first stop source of information for constituents of this program. The Provincial Forest Extension Program (PFEP) delivered by FORREX will maintain on-line resources, including a Web site, www.forrex.org, and the Natural Resources Information Network (NRIN), as portals to the PFEP team of extension specialists, Forest Science Program proponents, and experts throughout British Columbia. This project will also support access to decision-support tools, science-based publications, and to the Web sites and information catalogues of a wide range of partners and collaborators. Access to online continuous learning tools and services will be pursued and developed where needed, in collaboration with various service providers. This project includes maintaining access to existing resources as well as working with specialists and partners to add high-quality content and enhance access to information being generated through the Forest Science Program and other innovators.
