Aboriginal Forestry and Indigenous Knowledge Website
Project Abstract: To provide current and up to date information of upcoming workshops and share information via case studies, workshop results and existing models that will incorporate Traditional Ecological Knowledge in natural resource management. In this networked world, the competitive advantage goes to those that can find, assimilate and use emerging knowledge to their benefit. However, the learners of today and tomorrow face a very dynamic learning environment and our challenge is to put new tools to work in the quest for sustainable resource management. To do this effectively requires timely access to relevant and trustworthy information as well as new technologies to be able to “stay in touch” with that information. This project is focused on working with partners to maintain and enhance access to the latest indigenous knowledge and first nations perspectives on aboriginal forestry. Innovations through the World Wide Web products and services so that forest managers, decision-makers, researchers and practitioners (e.g. forest managers, field contractors, and forest management/science researchers) will have increased knowledge and awareness of current aboriginal forestry and natural resource Management practices and issues, research and extension products and activities. To enhance this access to information, activities undertaken by the extension team will include regular updates to the various program pages. The need to “stay in touch” with all the new information or events related to Aboriginal Forestry that occur on an annual basis, including those produced by the Provincial Forest Extension Provider.
